Biography, education, career:

In 1989, at the Leningrad branch of the Institute of Ethnography, Pavel Belkov defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled Ethnic Groups of Australian Aborigines. Presently, Belkov is a Senior Fellow at the Department of Australia, Oceania and Indonesia, MAE RAS.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of Australia and Oceania; History and ethnography of primitive peoples; Mythology; Potestary ethnography; Folklore studies; Historiography, Source studies and Methodology of Ethnography; Ethnic museology; Anthropology of kinship
