Biography, education, career:

Armen Bashindzhagyan was born to the family of artist and litterateur G. Bashindzhagyan; younger brother of L. G. Bashindzhagyan. In 1935–1938 he was a research fellow at the Caucasian Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies, USSR AS. He was a disciple of N.Y. Marr. On 4 February 1938 Bashindzagyan was arrested on the charge of espionage. Sentenced to execution by the NKVD troika (a commission of three for express judgment).

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of the North and South Caucasus; studying sources on the history of ethnography, language and folklore of Armenians
