Biography, education, career:

M.A. Bartold was born to the family of office workers. In 1920‑1928 she worked as a second-class research officer at the Central Asiatic Department of The Commission for the Study of the Tribal Composition of the Population of Russia and the Borderlands. Wife of V.V. Bartold, younger sister of V.A. Zhukovsky.
