On 16 July 1947 Klavdiya Zadykhina defended her Candidate’s Dissertation at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR AS; it was titled ''Telengits Among Kazakh Khans and Sultans in the 18th – 19th Centuries''. From 1941 she worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR AS in Leningrad. In 1945‑1964 she successively occupied the positions of junior (1945‑1955) and senior researcher (1955‑1964) at the Department of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR AS.
