In 1961‑1970 he was a junior researcher at the Institute of Africa of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1971‑1991 he successively occupied the positions of junior and senior researchers at the Department of Foreign Ethnology, a group for studying racial problems, Institute of Ethnography, USSR AS.
