In 1938 Andrey Dulzon defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled ''Alt-Urbach Dialect''. In 1939 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled ''The Problem of Amalgamation of Dialects (Based on the Materials of Prais Village Sub-Dialect)''. In 1934 he became Head of the Department of Germanic Philology and General Linguistics and received the positions of Professor at Saratov Pedagogical Institute. In 1940 he was awarded the academic degree of Professor. In 1934 he was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary activity but was released a year later. In October 1941 he was deported to Siberia as an ethnic German. Sadly, his card-index of dialects was lost during the deportation. In 1944 he was allowed to work at Tomsk Pedagogical Institute.
