On 28 June 2001, at Saint-Petersburg State University, he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled ''Written Language of a Minority Group (on the Material of the Even Language)''. Since 2002 he is a leading researcher at the Institute for Linguistic Studies, RAS, in Saint-Petersburg.
