In 1994, in MAE RAS, Yuri Botyakov defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled ''The Alaman: Social and Economic Aspects of the Turkmenian Institution of Raid (Mid-19th –First Half of the 20th Centuries)''. Presently, he is senior researcher at the Department of Caucasus, MAE RAS. Since 2005 he has taught at the Department of Country Studies and International Tourism, Faculty of Geography and Geo-Ecology, SPSU.
